About
Cary Williams was introduced
to photography when he was five. His first camera was a
snazzy blue plastic Kodak. Later, he constructed a basic
darkroom in his mother's bathroom. His mom was a very loving,
tolerant person.
At fourteen, Cary shot his
first wedding. At sixteen, he was shooting for his high
school newspaper and yearbook. It was, to say the least,
a time of learning with minimal tools.
He went on to embrace the
many aspects of still photography. Examples of his work
are on this Website.
Today, Cary often works
with his wife Debi, a photographer in her own right. She
hand colors many of their black & white prints. Together,
they have won a variety of awards in Florida's art show
circuit.
Cary's main focus is fine
art and portrait photography.
He also enjoys photographing
pets, landscapes, and architecture.
His professional experience
includes many years in electronic media.
He spent more than thirty
years in the radio, television, and Internet industries.
As Director of Operations for a major network owned-and-operated
Florida television outlet, he supervised a staff of more
than fifty photojournalists, videotape editors, and broadcast
technicians.
Cary produced many of the
top-rated television newscasts in Florida's Tampa Bay area.
In 1983, he created and produced the area's first all news
morning broadcast.
In the mid-1990's, he conceived
and produced one of the television industry's early Internet
sites (wtvt.com). Early iterations of the site can be accessed
via the Wayback Machine: www.archive.org
Today, Cary is a partner
in The
Image Criteria Group, and a contributing field
producer for NBC News.
He recently received a silver
ADDY award (Advertising Federation) for a long-form visual
presentation.
Cary Williams is a graduate
of the University of South Florida.
